山口県宇部市のときわミュージアム（世界を旅する植物館）では、強烈な異臭を放つ世界最大級の花が咲いています。
「スマトラオオコンニャク」で、高さが1.8mあり、花粉を運ぶ昆虫を呼び寄せるために肉や魚が腐ったような強烈な異臭を放ちます。



三重県伊勢市では、特産の「蓮台寺柿」の収穫が盛んに行われています。
350年前の江戸時代から栽培され、ほとんど品種改良が行われていません。
伊勢市の天然記念物です。
